Dental Hygiene

Affordable and gentle dental hygiene treatment in Hull

We know that life has a habit of getting in the way, with busy schedules and even busier families, but how long has it been since you’ve had your teeth professionally cleaned? Regular visits to your friendly hygienist here at 543 are vital to maintaining good oral health and are an important supplement to regular check-ups.

Five-Star Dental Hygiene Appointments in Hull

As well as carrying out a scale and polish – or a professional deep clean – to remove stains, plaque and tartar, the hygienist will make sure you’re armed with the latest techniques and products to use at home, and can help you if you need to make lifestyle changes that will benefit both your dental and general health, such as eating healthily or giving up smoking.

We make regular dental hygiene appointments as easy as 1, 2, 3!

  • Step One:

After assessing your condition, the hygienist will recommend an appropriate treatment interval.

  • Step Two:

During your 15-minute visit, the hygienist will also polish off unsightly staining left on the teeth caused by smoking, tea or coffee. Your breath will benefit too, as a deep professional clean will help eliminate the bacteria that cause bad breath.

  • Step Three:

That’s it! You’ll leave our practice with a fresher, healthier smile and a pep in your step!

Gum Disease Prevention at 543

Maintaining a rigorous cleaning programme at home is vital if you want to minimise the need for hygienist appointments and prevent oral hygiene problems from developing in the future.

Our hygienist will give you advice and tips not only about how to clean your teeth, but also about diet and general lifestyle, as poor oral health has been linked to serious health problems such as diabetes and heart disease. We’ll also screen you for any warning signs of mouth cancer, which is far more treatable if caught early.

There’s a plan for that!

Did you know there’s a dental plan specifically for our patients who would benefit from more frequent hygiene visits? 543 Dencare Hygiene includes 4 hygiene appointments per year, plus a host of other benefits.

FAQs

Can’t my dentist do oral hygiene checks?

Yes, our dentists are fully qualified in all aspects of oral hygiene. However, hygienists undertake specialised training in this area, meaning they focus on removing plaque and tartar from the teeth and below the gum line, where most damage occurs.

Does it hurt to get a scale and polish?

Not usually, though if your gums are very sensitive, the hygienist can use anaesthetic gel to alleviate any discomfort.

How often should I see my hygienist?

If you have good oral health, we generally recommend seeing the hygienist twice a year. If you’ve had dental implants or tooth restorations, you may be required to visit more frequently to ensure plaque is being kept under control effectively around your prosthetic restorations. Your hygienist will advise you on the appropriate interval for your case.

Patient Testimonials

Lauren AudleySedation & Tooth Extraction

I’m quite a nervous dental patient and had already attempted an extraction twice at my usual dentist without success. I was referred here for a sedation tooth extraction and the experience was surprisingly positive. Every member of staff I spoke to was incredibly kind and reassuring. The procedure itself was quick and stress-free, and the sedation made it much easier than I expected. I honestly left thinking it was the best dental visit I’ve had.

Max CampeyGeneral Dental Treatment

My dentist Henry Furbank was fantastic during my appointment. He is kind, caring and always takes time to explain what treatment is needed and why. His assistant Gemma was equally friendly and supportive throughout the visit. It really makes a difference when the dental team communicates clearly and treats you with patience. The whole appointment felt professional, relaxed and reassuring.

Anonymous ReviewerInitial Consultation and Treatment Planning

My first interaction with the practice was over the phone while arranging a consultation for dental treatment. Abby, who handled my call, was very patient and helpful even though she mentioned she was quite new. When I arrived for my appointment the atmosphere in the practice was welcoming and relaxed. The staff were friendly and professional, which made me feel confident about starting treatment here.

Keith HarrisonRoutine Dental Appointments

I’ve been attending the practice for routine dental check-ups and have always found the service excellent. The staff are consistently friendly and welcoming, which makes appointments much easier. The dentists take time to explain any issues and provide clear advice about maintaining good oral health. The practice feels well organised and professional, and I always leave feeling confident about my dental care.
